Viet Nam National Boundary Committee and Korea Maritime Institute signed on Memorandum of Understanding

On March 22nd, 2018, in Ha Noi, Mr. Thai Xuan Dzung, Vice Chairman of Viet Nam National Boundary Committee and Dr. Yang Chang Ho, President of Korea Maritime Institute concluded a Memorandum of Understanding on maritime cooperation, on behalf of National Boundary Committee, MOFA of Viet Nam and Korea Maritime Institute (KMI).

At the signing ceremony, Mr. Thai Xuan Dzung said the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is a significant milestone in strengthening and enhancing cooperation between the two parties, emphasizing that it is an important legal basis for the upcoming cooperation activities, contributing to enhancing the partnership between Viet Nam and South Korea.

Mr. Thai Xuan Dzung also expressed his pleasure at the cooperation between National Boundary Committee and Korea Maritime Institute, in particular the exchange of researches, experience and academic matters. He further expressed his hope that with the MoU, the cooperation between National Boundary Committee and Korea Maritime Institute will be substantive and effective, benefiting both parties.

Dr. Yang Chang Ho, President of Korea Maritime Institute, emphasized the need for cooperation at a time when seas and oceans is increasingly important, believing that the MoU would “further promote the cooperation between the two countries and institutions. Looking forward, the two institutions will continue the cooperation in research areas relevant to maritime laws, maritime policy and marine security. Since the two countries have a common interest in maritime laws and policy, there is a lot of room for further cooperation in the future.”

After the signing ceremony, the two parties co-hosted a workshop on “Promoting the sustainable use and management of the ocean” on March 22-23, 2018 in Hanoi.

Prior to these events, H.E. Le Hoai Trung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Boundary Committee had a cordial meeting with Dr. Yang Chang Ho, President of Korea Maritime Institute.
